Terms of Service

By downloading, installing, or using ML-42 ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.

ML-42 is a native macOS markdown editor and file browser. The App provides:

• Live preview editing of markdown files with cursor-aware syntax reveal
• Project-based workspace management for folders on your filesystem
• Visual folder browsing with document cards and metadata
• Command palette search across all projects
• Syntax highlighting for fenced code blocks in 15+ languages
• Table rendering with aligned columns and headers
• Git status display and GitHub/GitLab link generation
• Table of contents, favorites, and navigation history
• Light and dark mode with customisable editor settings

Features may change between versions as the App is in active development.

The App requires:

• macOS: macOS 26 or later

AI summary features require Apple Intelligence.

You retain full ownership of all files you open, create, or edit with the App. We claim no rights to your content.

• Your files remain on your local filesystem at all times
• ML-42 does not copy, import, or sync your files to any other location
• We do not have access to your files and cannot recover them
• You are responsible for backing up your data
• Deleting files through the App moves them to the system Trash

ML-42 is a sandboxed application. It only accesses folders you explicitly grant permission to via the system file picker. The App may:

• Read files to display their content
• Write to files when you make edits
• Create new files and folders at your request
• Rename and delete files and folders at your request

ML-42 does not access files or folders outside your explicitly opened projects.

The App, including its design, code, and branding, is the intellectual property of Field Bureau & Werkstatt LLC. You may not copy, modify, distribute, reverse-engineer, or create derivative works based on the App without explicit written permission.

The documents you create and edit with the App belong entirely to you.

The App is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for any damages arising from the use of the App, including but not limited to:

• Loss or corruption of files or data
• Unintended file modifications or deletions
• Inaccurate rendering of markdown content
• Incompatibility with specific markdown flavours or extensions
• Git integration errors or incorrect status display

If you participate in the ML-42 beta program:

• Beta versions may contain bugs and are not guaranteed to be stable
• Features may change or be removed between beta releases
• We may collect crash reports and diagnostic data during the beta period (via Apple TestFlight)
• Beta access may be revoked at any time

We may update the App and these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the App after updates constitutes acceptance of any changes. Updates will be distributed through the App Store or TestFlight.

You may stop using the App at any time by uninstalling it. Your files remain on your filesystem after uninstallation. App preferences and workspace bookmarks stored in the app container are removed with the app.
