These Terms of Service govern your use of Codex ET-2, an iOS application that lets you walk the warehouse of every possible 8×8 monochrome icon — a deterministic catalog of 264 entries, each at its own coordinate.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using Codex ET-2 ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.

2. Description of Service

Codex ET-2 is an iOS application that provides browsing, editing, and sharing of icons in the catalog of every possible 8×8 monochrome image. The App provides:

  • Browsing and teleporting through a 232 × 232 coordinate grid
  • A focused icon view with X and Y coordinates
  • Pixel-level editing of icons
  • Favorites and visit history
  • Sharing icons and coordinates via the iOS share sheet

3. System Requirements

The App requires:

  • iOS: iOS 17.0 or later

4. Privacy and Data

The App operates with no data collection:

  • No personal data is transmitted to external servers
  • All favorites, edits, and settings are stored locally on your device

5. Permissions

The App does not request any system permissions. It runs entirely on local computation with no need for camera, microphone, motion, location, or network access.

6. Intellectual Property

The App, including its design, code, and presentation, is the intellectual property of Field Bureau & Werkstatt LLC. The mathematical fact that every 8×8 monochrome image exists as a coordinate is not ownable; our specific implementation, layout, and presentation are protected.

You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works based on the App without explicit written permission.

7. Limitation of Liability

The App is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for any damages arising from the use of the App, including but not limited to:

  • Device compatibility issues
  • Visual rendering issues
  • Battery consumption
  • Data loss or corruption

8. Health Considerations

The App displays dense grids of small icons and animated transitions. If you are sensitive to flashing lights or motion, please use the App with caution. We recommend taking breaks during extended use.

9. User Responsibilities

Users are responsible for:

  • Ensuring device compatibility
  • Using the App in accordance with these Terms
  • Any content they share from the App to third-party services

10. Updates and Changes

We may update the App and these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the App after updates constitutes acceptance of any changes. Updates will be distributed through the App Store.
